I engaged Susanne’s services toward the end of 2021, initially to write a proposal for my memoir/non-fiction book. I soon learned however that the book itself needed a fair bit of work. Her subsequent developmental edit was everything I hoped it would be and helped me transform by book into what I knew it could be. My advice would be to work with Susanne as soon as possible in the writing process – yes, she is excellent at fixing, but it’s a lot easier to get it right as you go along. What has surprised me most about the experience was her breadth and depth of knowledge, not only around writing and editing, but also in helping people with ADHD.
Her encouragement, support, and practical advice in this area is changing not only way I approach my writing, but also my life.
Over and above being extremely good at her craft, she is patient, funny, and kind, not to mention a fountain of inspiration and encouragement. As you would expect from a great editor, if something isn’t working she will tell you why and give guidance on how to fix it, but not in a way that leaves you thinking you should never have left the day job.
Susanne is one of those special people whose talents are complimented by her genuine interest in what she does, her clients’ welfare and their work. In the words of Steven King: “To write is human, to edit is divine, and to find someone like Susanne is a miracle.” Okay, he never said the last bit, but he would have had he met her.
