FAQ as an Academic Editor

What kinds of manuscripts do you work on?

I enjoy working as a(n)

  • dissertation editor
  • journal article editor
  • academic book editor
    • monograph editor
    • edited volume editor

Yes, absolutely! I would love to edit your dissertation for you.

If you are struggling to get it finished first, check out my dissertation coaching page

I have a master’s degree in Cultural Analysis, which is an interdisciplinary program in the Humanities. As such, I’m very comfortable with any type of qualitative research and have a strong foundation in most of the humanities.

I have edited more quantitative dissertations and books as well, and have spent years working with clients from the social sciences. However, if you want constructive feedback on your quantitative analyses, I’m not the right editor for you.

To be honest with you: I’m not the right person to check your references. I will absolutely look them over if you hire me to do any other kind of edit, and I will be able to pick up on the biggest mistakes. But this is not something I specialize in as an academic editor.

You deserve to submit your manuscript with confidence

As an (aspiring) academic, you work in a highly competitive environment. You might also deal with an amount of rejections that’s unusual for most other types of writers. And this can make it difficult not to start doubting your own capacities.

I understand that you want more from an academic editor than just a quick spell-check. Instead, what you need is a thorough examination of the textual qualities, in combination with a respectful attitude towards the particularities of your topic and the feelings that can run high when working on a project you’re passionate about. You want an honest assessment of your work as well as structural advise that can help you become an increasingly successful academic writer in the long run.

And that’s what I’m all about as a writing coach and academic editor! I’m here to help you improve your text without losing face or confidence. Let’s have a talk to discuss your specific needs and wants.
