Gender Violence, the Law, and Society
Gender Violence, the Law, and Society: Interdisciplinary Perspectives from India, Japan and South Africa was my passion project for the longest time. It's when I worked on this book that I first started thinking about how to change the world of publishing. This book allowed me to be creative, organized and conscientious – all of which I love. And I really think it shows!
Gender Violence, the Law, and Society: Interdisciplinary Perspectives from India, Japan and South Africa was my passion project for the longest time. When I worked on this book, I first started thinking about how to change the world of publishing. This book allowed me to be creative, organized and conscientious – all of which I love. And I really think it shows!
For this volume, I came up with a new book structure. This would allow us to juxtapose and contrast experiences of gender-based and sexual violence from different areas in the world. Then, I presented my idea to the publisher, in a book proposal. Through regular video chats, e-mail check ins and revision rounds, I coached the authors to write focused chapters that would fit together into one cohesive book. And when these chapters were written, I did four thorough editing rounds to make sure the chapters were up to the highest possible standards.
Our work on this book was appreciated so much that we won funding from Knowledge Unlatched. The funding was used to make the book Open Access, meaning it’s freely available to everyone!
You can find Gender Violence, the Law and Society on the publisher’s website and through all major online book sellers.
